Mediterranean Festival Information

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 11! This year's Mediterranean Festival will be a one-day event only, from 11 am to 8:00 pm. For over 80 years, St. Mary Orthodox Christian Church has celebrated its Mediterranean heritage through public dinners and bake sales. At the Mediterranean Festival we offer the best of both! Taste authentic foods from Lebanon, Greece, and Serbia for lunch or dinner. Enjoy your food inside, outside, or take it to go. All items are a la carte, so bring your friends and try a little bit of everything!

In addition to our authentic cuisine from Lebanon, Greece and Serbia, we are bringing back kafta, a River Festival favorite. Kafta is lean ground beef mixed with onion and spices, grilled to perfection and served in a pita with garlic and mint sour cream sauce. For your convenience, we offer both dine-in and carry-out service.

In our Mediterranean Marketplace you can find one-of-a-kind pastries, breads, desserts, and specialty items from Lebanon, Greece, Syria, Serbia, Egypt, Ethiopia, and many other countries, along with your favorite traditional baked goods.

We have also made several exciting changes to this year's event:

KAFTA IS BACK!

This was a huge hit at past River Festivals, and due to constant requests, we have added it to our menu. Kafta is lean ground beef mixed with onion and spices, grilled, and served in a pita with a garlic and mint sour cream sauce. It's awesome!

OUTDOOR SEATING

In addition to our indoor seating, we have expanded our Festival outdoors, where you can enjoy your food under the tent while listening to some traditional ethnic music.

OUTDOOR ITEMS FOR PURCHASE

While you can get our full a la carte menu inside, you can also purchase desserts (baklawa!) drinks, kafta and Lebanese chicken kabobs right off the grill outside.

We have expanded our Mediterranean Marketplace making it easier for you to shop for your favorite baked goods. There's something for everyone!

See and learn about our beautifiul hand-painted Byzantine iconography and their significance in Orthodox theology, as well as many other things about Eastern Christianity and the history of Christian church.
